Dear Stitch Fix,
Please be more transparent during your hiring process.
All I have to say is my experience with your company was a complete WASTE OF TIME.
To the readers,
Don't be fooled. Please think again when moving forward with this company. I would like to back up the recent reviews here, as I completely agree that the interview process with Stitch Fix is extremely time consuming. In the end, I feel relieved that I was not chosen for the role due to the overall lack of company culture and professionalism. I felt like I was lead on, and dragged. Too many red flags to point out where do I even begin?!
My experience with each hiring manager felt very repetitive, as I was asked the same questions each round. All the questions felt very cookie cutter, and scripted. It was not engaging at all, and I felt like all the team members opened up google and searched for the greatest top 10 HR questions. No one really wanted to get to know me, but one person whom I felt cared enough to ask me questions that are outside of the box.
So, here it goes. The whole process took a whole month:
1. I applied online, and received an invitation for a phone screening with HR. This phone call was 30 min max.
2. I got a 2nd invitation to interview with the first hiring manager. The 2nd interview was 45min.
3. Received 3rd invite for a Zoom video interview with 1st hiring manager, and 2nd hiring manager. Lets just say the 2nd hiring manager seemed too laid back, she even used swear words and was very distracted on video. Her response to my questions was short and not straight to the point. She didn't seem very confident about her role either. I felt like I was driving most of the conversation and what the role entails. (RED FLAG)
4. Received a 4th interview with one of the print designers whom I felt asked genuine and thought-provoking questions. Unfortunately, this was the only time I felt comfortable.
5. Received the "Next Steps" to meet with another HR lady who met with me via Zoom for 15min to go over salary, benefits, offer and start dates. (Finish line? Nope, not so fast there is a project.)
6. Received another email for the "Next Steps" that consisted of a project that needed to be completed within a week (RED FLAG). This is the type of work I get paid for, and not do for free. But the part that was very frustrating is that the 1st HR lady had sent me the wrong project the first time, and was caught after I had reached out to the 1st hiring manager with questions regarding the project. Turns out she had sent me a project that had already been completed by a past candidate. The HR lady had apologized and told me to disregard it, then proceeded to email me with the "correct" prompt and project details.
The project is a test to present your hard and soft skills. The overall project seemed pretty straight forward, however their overall direction and expectations was not clear which brings me to the very last interview.
5. Received the last steps for a final interview to present the project to a panel of 5 people that I already interviewed with minus 1 hiring manager who I did not get a chance to meet with 1:1. I don't believe I got a chance to speak during my presentation, as the newer hiring manager kept inserting herself in the scenarios and would stop me mid sentence and would not let me speak. I felt very uncomfortable and wish I had more time to think about my responses. She could have waited until the end to ask me questions, as the whole presentation was time-sensitive. I even asked at the end if there was feedback they can give to me, and all I received was silence.
6. Waited about a week, and was sent a generic rejection email by the newer hiring manager I did not have a 1:1 with. Very disappointing experience overall!!
