I made through the phone interview. It felt rushed and very impersonal.
I was interviewed on a whim and it was almost like she wasn't really listening to me. The pay was low but I felt kind of rushed into saying it was okay because of the perks.
She then said that I would go through the process but I found it weird that she, herself, would not want to interview me or get to know me more. It seemed very odd and had a feeling that she would conduct her own research on me via social media.
And, I was right! After thinking about the role and the pay, I was about to e-mail her to tell her that it was too low of a salary for me and I checked my e-mail which stated that they were moving on with another candidate. Mind you, when we were speaking on the phone, she asked me if I was interviewing with another company and I was transparent about. Interesting that she wouldn’t say that they were interviewing someone else.
I had a weird feeling about why she had come to this conclusion and while I was looking through my social media, I noticed that someone with the same first and last name of the interviewer.
It is totally okay to background check candidates but they need to be transparent about that, Nothing on my page is harmful or pertains to my job so I find it very shady that she would look at it and not tell me or ask me any questions about it. I am aware that most Employers look at social media profiles. However, to go from being enthused to move on with the interview process to all of a sudden cancelling interviews based on looking at my social media without disclosing that is very unprofessional.
I am very glad that I do not work for these people. Judging people in this manner is not a good sign of a healthy work environment. I have never experienced anything like this. It seems like they will toss you out without giving you a chance and I am grateful that I won’t be around to find out anything else about them.
