I had an internal Straumann recruiter reach out to me.
Our initial call went great, she shared they move quick and there are only 3 interview rounds (phone screen, hiring manager and another Director). She called me back the next day saying how excited the hiring manager was to meet me, so we set up the hiring manager interview.
After the hiring manager interview, the recruiter called me the next day and told me the hiring manager thought the call went fantastic. The hiring manager told the recruiter, "I was her top pick!" I was actually surprised the recruiter shared that with me but it kept me excited and engaged.
I told the recruiter that I had already final round with an expected offer the very next day (honestly, I did). She immediately jumped in and said, "Don't accept anything until you chat with me" and "let's schedule a final round time for you to speak with a Director at Straumann to continue in our process asap!" So we did. After a handful of follow ups I did not hear a peep from the recruiter until 1 week later!
In the interim, I turned down the other offer in hopes of things working out at Straumann. When she reconnected with me, she apologized for the delay and said the VP of the team wanted a final interview, more as a formality. I had asked her if any other candidates were in the mix, she said, "Yes, one but she doesn't have anywhere near the level of experience you do. I wouldn't worry too much about it."
The final video call came and went, then received an auto generated rejection email the next day. No phone call, no replies to my calls or emails asking why and for candid feedback on what I could improve on.
What started out as a great experience, turned south, which is unfortunate. I had a lot of respect for this company.
