      Finance Director Interview

      Dec 5, 2024
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Stride in Oct 2024

      Interview

Screening interview with HR was very generic - more so of an informational session about the company. Moved on to interview with hiring manager (VP). Super basic questions which were read from a list (where do you see yourself in 5 yrs, tell me something about you that isn't on your resume, etc). He did not make any attempt to engage- it was like interviewing with a robot, except with less personality. Then crickets, despite my outreach to request a status update as I was evaluating other opportunities. I accepted an offer from another company (which actually acted like adults during the entire interview process). Then after 2 months I got the standard scripted "we decided to pursue other candidates". Meanwhile I saw that the position was reposted to career site. Complete lack of courtesy. Dodged a bullet on that one.

      Interview

Overall, very unprofessional interview process. I was reached out to by Stride's talent acquisition team for a screening call, and was moved forward to an interview with the hiring manager within the same week. The interview with the hiring manager was as any interview you'd expect would go, questions were very relevant to the position, wanted to learn more about my background. Approximately a month later, talent acquisition reached out to me apologizing for the delay and asking if I was still interested in the role - I was asked to move forward to the next round of interviews with the business unit CEO. The interview with the CEO fine, pleasant, nothing remarkable that stuck out to me - very good questions. After a thank you note follow up to the CEO, a week passed by and I reached out to the talent acquisition team to let them know I was still interested in the position - heard nothing back. Three weeks later, I reached back out one last time to express my interest - with no response, and copied the hiring manager I originally interviewed with. Over a month later, I saw the role reposted on LinkedIn At the very minimum, I would expect an auto-rejection email if I was not qualified, moved forward with other candidates or moved in a different direction for the role, especially since I had met with the business unit CEO. The fact that I had to chase any feedback down over the course of a month plus, and their unwillingness to reply to any of my notes, depicts business immaturity on their end. If this is the way Stride handles their candidates in the interview process, it is foreboding of how disjointed their actual business must be.
