I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Stripe in May 2023
Interview
5 minutes late. Interviewer only arrived after I reminded them over email. Very aggressive interview style. Asked directly about compensation first. Said my locale is a “non-premium location” which is a joke because it is just as expensive as SF and NYC. Spouted jargon about levels without explaining first. Did not even give a chance for me to ask questions. I had to stop them before they hung up so I could ask my questions. Overall a very long and rigorous process — lots and lots of product sense interviews. At least double the number of interviews as other companies. It’s no surprise this role was open for 7 months for a role that they admitted was not popular to other candidates. Dysfunctional TBH.
It was super well done. The recruiter was extremely informed, and proactively led me through the process. Every step of the way. I ultimately didn't get the role, and they offered a call to walk through why.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Stripe
Interview
Recruiter was top notch and extremely talented. Very meticulous and rigorous process but the team thoroughly prepares you for exactly what to expect, what to study, and what to focus on. The process leans more technical than most product interviews and that's because their product and users are technical. The interview definitely is a test to whether you can survive working at Stripe.
Call with recruiter. Call with hiring manager. Interview with peers. Peer interview was cancelled the morning of and the email came from a team member in india so I received it at 2am…
