I applied online. I interviewed at Stripe (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2017
Interview
Applied online and through a friend referral. Had to prepare cover letter including description in 1-2 paragraphs of how I resolved a difficult legal issue. After submitting, I was contacted by their scheduling AI Optimus Time for a phone screen with a senior counsel there. Note this was my first in-house interview.

Question 1
I was asked about my work history, specific deals I worked on (without breaking any client confidence), and why I was interested in Stripe. I was asked specifically about private, buy-side M&A advice that I would give to business principals. Ultimately, I was told my email that I would not be advancing to the next round, but the team was very nice and it seems like a great company to work for.
