I walked away from my Stripe interview process changed for the better. It was the most thoughtful, thorough, and reflective recruitment experience I’ve ever gone through. While I didn’t get the role, I’m still deeply grateful to have gone through it.
The process was long and intense, about nine conversations in total, with four of them being back-to-back interviews. There was also a written exercise (with two questions) that was scheduled for 2–3 hours but took me a full day to properly complete. That said, I appreciated how practical and aligned it was with the actual demands of the role.
What truly stood out was the structure: I was given questions in advance, which made all the difference. It gave me time to reflect on my experiences and bring forward the most meaningful examples from my career. Most companies treat recruitment like a speed test, but Stripe approached it like a deep dive into values, problem-solving, and thoughtfulness.
Each interviewer was warm, engaged, and clearly invested in the process. It never felt transactional. The Head of FinCrime legal in particular left a strong impression on me as he was kind, generous with his reflections, and a model of empathetic leadership.
Ultimately, Stripe set a new benchmark for me in how recruiting should be done. It’s very very hard, yes …but fair, human, and dignified. I didn’t land the role, but I’d reapply in a heartbeat.
