I withdrew from the process in the 3rd round because the interview process gave me a bad impression of the company.
The recruiter initially contacted me through LinkedIn about an opening and it looked interesting and I'd always thought highly of Stripe's product so I said I'd like to join the process.
The first call with the recruiter, he was based in Chicago, lacked any sort of warmth and he was clearly on his cell phone walking around somewhere outside the office and didn't seem to have any notes about my profile or interest in having a 2 way chat. Thought it was a bit disrespectful but whatever, I wouldn't work with him closely after being hired. I got a follow up a few days later that was clearly a copy paste template but that didn't really fit with where I was in the process.
I next had a 30 minute call with the hiring manager. She was fine, but again, it was just very cold and not a conversation and the only chance for me to ask questions was 2 minutes before the end, when she said she had a "hard out" in 2 minutes.
2 weeks later I got another odd template email saying "As mentioned, we are excited to move forward," huh this was the first I'd heard of it. I had a few questions about the role and process for the recruiter and sent 2 follow up emails but got zero response.
The next stage was a work assignment that asked me to present a project I'd worked on in my current job including real data and results, which made me quite uncomfortable. I'd assume Stripe wouldn't want it's own employees sharing company data in interviews with competitors. A couple days later the recruiter sent an email (ignoring my earlier questions) saying that when I scheduled the next call he had forgotten to check the interviewers schedules first and would need to reschedule lol.
Anyways, the whole situation just seemed off to me so I withdrew. Nothing really horrible happened, but definitely didn't feel they wanted to truly get to know me or allow me to get to know the interviewers or company or really just act like nice people you'd want to work with. To me this was a red flag for how the actual job would be and what the internal culture would likely be like.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Stripe
Interview
Initial recruiter screen followed by hiring manager interview. After that second round, you are asked to create a presentation based on a hypothetical and review with hiring manager + additional department member.
It was unclear to me why a 2nd person attended the presentation round, as they were on their laptop the entire time, asked no questions, and did not bother to look at the camera when the interview was concluded.

Question 1
What is one thing you would change in regards to the marketing strategy for a recent Stripe launch?
I met with a recruiter and the hiring manager. I was completely ghosted. It's really disappointing to prepare for an interview, only to be ghosted by the recruiter. I sent a follow-up email regarding the role, and received no answer. Not even a automated rejection letter.

Recruiter reached out. They were genuinely pleasant and cheerful.
Pro Tip: get clarity on the salary range for your location before committing to a screening. They will categorically lowball you by $25K to $40K. They want your experience, but they do not want to pay you for it.
I recused myself after my initial conversation with the recruiter.
