I filled in the standard Workday application form. One month later, an invitation to completing a Gallup personality questionnaire on how I see myself and working with other co-workers. One month after completing the Gallup questionnaire, a HR member sent an email for a phone interview with HR. It was a 15 minutes phone call with the HR staff on my work background and why I applied. At the end there was also a short version of the Gallup questionnaire but quick fire, i.e. you are encouraged not to think but to give the answer without thinking too much. About two weeks after the phone interview, I received an invitation to a Microsoft Team interview with the department manager and a few other senior team members. It was a formal interview with problem-based questions. At the end of the interview I was offered the opportunity to ask questions. I asked about the team I potentially work with, such as their expertise and academic background. The next day the HR member contacted me for feedback and told me politely they decided against hiring me. The reason was I 'cared too much about the team's qualifications.' As ridiculous as it may sound, I could see from LinkedIn that the department manger did hold a top-up degree but perhaps felt attacked by the question. I can see why they thought I might be overqualified to this role (even though I was hoping to change field) but I feel I truly dodged a bullet here.
