Interview
I applied online with an employee referral. Total time for interview was 4 hours. I interviewed at Success Academy Charter schools in May 2016
This was a group interview. I arrived at 9:00 am and waited for about 15 minutes. We were all brought into a conference room. It was 5 of us plus the interviewer. First thing we did was talk about our significant object for about 30 seconds. Then we watched a slideshow and video about SA- their mission, their stats etc. We discussed our notes about the videos we were told to watch before the interview, discussed similarities. We had to do a teach back activity about Winn-Dixie, this was the hardest part for me because I didn’t have enough time. She acted out a sample, with a template that is provided. She gave us 10 minutes to create a 4 min lesson. Then after you presented, she asked what you think were positive notes of your presentation and what you should work on. After your response, she gives you her feedback. Then she gives you another 5 minutes to redo a part of lesson (that received advice to work on) for 1 minute. After that she gave everyone paperwork to do while she and another recruiter took turns interviewing everyone one on one.
Paperwork included: writing 3 questions regarding literal AND deeper meaning of a poem (sun-kissed by Robert Louis Stevenson- title may be a bit off), writing an email to a fellow staff member based on a scenario, Filling out a school preference placement sheet.
I have no teaching experience so this interview was a bit nerve-wracking for me. The teach back activity was the hardest part in my opinion. I just wish we had more time.
I loved the idea of learning so much about SA. It was great to see how successful they have become and about their mission and teaching approach. Exactly 1 week after the interview, they emailed me stating that they would not be offering me a position at SA but will continue to keep my resume active. I was a bit disappointed but it was a great experience.
Good Luck!

It was a series of two interviews. One was a group interviews while one was a one on one interview as well as a video that one had to record to answer additional questions
Group interview with behavioral and then also a sample of discipline. We were asked typical behavioral interview style questions like tell me about yourself, name a time you failed. It was kind of awkward because all interviewees would take turn answering. We were not given the opportunity to aak the interviewers any questions
