Shortly after applying for the position, I received an email from a member of the Recruitment Team to set up a phone interview. After providing my availability, my interview was scheduled. Two days later, I had a phone interview with an individual who only provided her first name. The phone interview was really fast. The interviewer asked about my background experience, what industries I have been researching, what my manager would say about me and a weakness I would like to work on. I asked the individual when they were trying to fill the position and she told me that it would be as soon as possible, while trying to keep in mind that school was about to start and the person filling the position would need appropriate training.
After my phone interview, I was positive and looked forward to hearing from someone especially since I thought the interview went well. I was wrong. I did not hear from anyone. I didn't know who to follow-up with, so I sent an email to the individual who set up the phone interview. I never received a response back from her either.
A month later, I received a generic "we regret to inform you..." email from a third individual. I really think the application and hiring process needs to be revisited and streamlined. It seems unorganized and is very discouraging. This job would have required me to move. I know that there are no guarantees in life, but, I hesitated signing a lease renewal just in case I moved forward in the process. Not knowing what will happen next or how long the process takes is poor communication. I really liked the position and was thrilled when I saw the opportunity. I now have a different perception of the school and its management.
