I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Success Academy Charter Schools (New York, NY) in Mar 2016
Interview
I applied on Feb 17th and got an email on Feb 24th for an interview. I chose to interview on a Saturday so I had to wait until March 12 for my interview.
The day of the interview there were about 20 people waiting to be interviewed. We were broken up in to groups of 6 with 1 interviewer. We started off by talking about our item of significance. The interviewer then showed us some slides about Success and gave opportunities for questions. After the slides we did the teach back portion. He demonstrated how the lesson should go. We were given 15 minutes to prepare and 4 minutes to present. After everyone had a turn we were each given a 2 minute re-do to work on something he said could be improved.
Next was the writing/one on one interviews. You must complete a placement preference sheet, write an email based on a scenario, and create 6 six questions and answers about a poems literal and deeper meaning. While we filled these out he called us in to his office for one on one interviews.
TIPS:
1.Know about the schools. During your one on one interview mention something about their values or mission, anything that shows you did research.
2.Do the teach back like the interviewer. You are literally given a script. I basically read verbatim what they gave and only added my own thing for the launch.
3.Be prepared to talk about your current work and even past jobs. I told a story from when I worked as a sales associate at Banana Republic and he was ok with that.
4.Don't say you have a problem with any sort of feedback.
5.Don't try to compete with the other candidates. They want to see how you work with others and can build of them. Show you're a team player.
Good Luck!
