      Interview

Yikes! Get ready to be low-balled and ghosted when proposing a counter-offer in-line with typical industry compensation. Their non-salary compensation is entirely back-loaded (0% vesting until 4+ years) and management is coming from a poor culture, cut-throat Pharmacyclics/Reata (look into their reviews). Also first time I ever got asked illegal questions during an interview regarding my family situation.

      Interview

The interview process started off well. I met with the hiring manger twice and was flown over to their Menlo Park site and met with an additional 6 people. Summit arranged for the travel and I paid up front for the hotel, uber rides, and meals. The process went smoothly until it was time to negotiate the offer. The job posting had a salary range of $225-235k. I requested at least 235 k given that I was interviewing at another company and knew my chances were good. The HR rep said that the range was a typo error and that the most the position could pay was 230k. The next day, the HR rep called to say that he secured a 235k base and was would be sending me a written offer by end of day. At the end of the day, another interview was requested with Manmeet Soni. The interview time was changed three times over the weekend and finally met with him. He was 8 minutes late and he didn't even apologize for being late. His questions about development indicated his lack of understanding and was told that the position was expected to meet with him twice a month in Florida. This was never communicated previously. After the interview, I had a feeling that the position was in the middle of a turf war. After the meeting, the HR rep ghosted me until I called him to see the status. I was told that the position was being re-evaluated. It has been a month and I still haven't been reimbursed by the company for my out of pocket costs. A word of caution for anyone thinking about joining that there is a large probability of being in the middle of ego and turf wars. From my perspective, the final meeting with Manmeet helped me dodge a bullet.

      Interview

Disrespectful - they wanted me to fly down with less than a weeks notice to interview and did not care that there were personal and work responsibilities and expected me to drop everything to accommodate them and respond immediately and jump to their every whim if I was interested in the job. Immediate red flag. Turn over high and when asking how happy people were working there - folks had issues responding without pausing and didn’t know what to say. Also telling when asking interviewers if they would be around for the long haul how everybody paused or could not find an answer. When asking about culture what was done for employee retention or team building events - also met with silence and pauses. Doesn’t seem like folks have been at this company very long and people keep getting fired or quit shortly after being hired.
