I applied to the position back in November and received a response from Sam during the second half of December. She sent me a PM challenge to fill out - which I thought was pretty interesting as not many places I've interviewed for have these challenges. She was very accommodating to the fact that I was about to leave for the holidays, giving me a chance to work on it over my break.
The PM challenge was well thought out and engaging. It actually reflected challenges I've run into in my current product manager role. I completed the challenge and shortly after had a call with Sam, who then set up an interview with Chad (CTO). Call with Chad was nice - he talked about their current development process and what they were looking for in the role. Asked very basic questions about my work history and motivations - nothing intense. There was a slight bit of disconnect between things he mentioned and what Sam had briefed me on, but nothing serious. I was more or less still very excited about the position.
Shortly after I had a phone call with Noah, which I failed miserably! You know how some days your brain just doesn't think straight? This was one of them. Red flag was when I asked about company culture (how do you double your team size and maintain the same culture type questions), which led to some combative answers that indicated to me things weren't going well. Other than that, lots of questions about how I would improve their current product line.
Received automated rejection e-mail two days later. :(
