I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Sumo.com (Austin, TX) in Nov 2016
Interview
I applied from the jobs/hiring page on the company website. I spent several days making sure my application was fire. Coming up with good answers takes some time and critical thinking.
I received an email from Sam, the Director of People, a few hours after submitting the app. We set up a call for two days later. We had a chat/phone screen and then she followed up with a 48-hour challenge with more critical thinking questions. I passed and she sent me one last challenge.
After I made it through the challenges, we set up a time two days later to swing by the office for onsite interviews with Noah (CEO), Anton (VP Business Dev), and Kevin (SD Sumo). They made me an offer that same night. They move super quick!
The application process is difficult. First and foremost, it screens for effort and enthusiasm. It will also do a good job revealing your skill-level, communication, responsiveness, speed, and creativity. There are a few pieces that ensure you have some basic tech/computer chops.
If you want it, prepare to grind and get after it.
