I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Suncor Energy (Calgary, AB) in Nov 2019
Interview
Online interview composed of two parts. The first part was a video interview, but through a website that records your answers rather than a skype interview. There were also about 3 or 4 written questions in it. The second was a personal aptitude test with a personality test and logical reasoning test. The website used for the video interview was better than I thought it would be, and it allowed you to practice on some of the questions. I disliked it, but mainly because I find talking to no one in particular to be very awkward! The aptitude test was fine. I understand why they do it because I am sure they have many applicants and its an easy way to screen. I had a question about it after I finished, and learned that I passed that section from the reply (note that I didn't get an email notifying me that I passed, other than the reply from HR). I am not sure if they let you immediately know if you 'failed ' it. I received an email about two weeks later stating that I wouldn't move on in the interview process, which seemed like a long time, even compared to other large companies I have applied to. Overall I would say the interview process was OK, but I think it needs some work, it didn't seem technical enough. Compared to the average O&G job posting in Calgary, this job was advertised for a very long time (a few months I think, and was reposted twice as well). I understand that hiring for a data scientist is probably pretty difficult, since it is a 'new job' and people are unfamiliar with the requirements or what experience is needed. I think the video interview section should include one or two more technical questions.

After applying online for the code, applicants recieved Technical assessment through third party. The technical assessment was only about coding skills. The candidate will go next step if they pass the technical assessment.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Suncor Energy (Calgary, AB) in Oct 2019
Interview
It's been disappointing seeing companies like this one to ghost people. The process goes slow and it takes 3 months to get through every stage. there are 3 rounds of them: phone screen, Hirevue Video interview and then skype interview with a data project assigned before the skype. It takes a lot of efforts to complete all the tasks. And I pass through all steps, but after background check they told me they are having enough people. then what is the reason for this interview then? And later I found they just hire someone else. Why Couldn't you be frank and sincere instead of ghosting people by lies? Disappointed.
