Ever have one of those screeners/internal recruiters that has zero personality or enthusiasm as if they hate their job? This was one of those experiences and one of my worst of all time.
Sherry H. sent me a friendly sounding/normal email to schedule a 20 min phone call and we set a time and date no problem. The day of the call comes up and she calls me about 10-15min late, not a problem sometimes that happens. With every screener I always try to break the ice and be personable and enthusiastic. The problem was Sherry was the TOTAL opposite, she gave off the impression like she wasn't interested in my skills and experience right off the bat! She went over the job description very briefly, I would talk about my experience which was followed by awkward silences and no follow up questions. Lastly, I had a list of questions to ask her which she answered with either short one word answers or minimal elaboration. The entire call probably didn't last more than 15 minutes and I was driven to get off the phone with this train-wreck as the whole experience made me not want to work there.
If companies want to make sure they're not missing out on a good candidate at least have friendly and enthusiastic recruiters that represent your company. Don't hire people that give off the impression that they don't care about people or where they work.
