I applied through an agency recruiter and participated in a phone interview. I learned that the hiring manager was looking for someone more experienced and better remunerated than himself for a subordinate role. That said, the role had been priced not terribly below market, but what shocked me was that I was asked to cover my own expenses for a flight to the Sunrun HQ to interview. (It was suggested that if were to visit SF soon for another interview, perhaps Sunrun could piggyback off that company's expense.) That was a deal-breaker for me. It was incredibly cheap and tacky, and it said enough about how the company would likely treat their employees and executives alike. I would never pay for my own flight, and I'm glad I didn't here because Sunrun never filled the position. It would have been a complete waste of my money and time.
