I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Sunrun in Sep 2013
Interview
Initial phone screen with internal recruiter and hiring manager. Not invited for an on-site. The recruiter was friendly and communicative, but the overall process was strange.
I applied for an Analytics Manager position online. Didn't hear anything and had completely forgotten about it when the recruiter calls me up out of the blue for a position in Channel Sales months later. I'm perplexed and say upfront that there's no sales experience on my resume. He assures me that I would be a good fit so I think perhaps the job is different than what the title implies. Recruiter sets up a call with the hiring manager. During the call with the hiring manager, I could tell he already made up his mind that I wasn't qualified prior to the call. So, the conversation degrades into justify why am I even minimally qualified to interview for this position, instead of the usual experience and skills questions. Complete 180 from the recruiter conversation. I also got the feeling throughout the call that the hiring manager was going to immediately yell at the recruiter as soon as he got off the phone with me.
Not surprised about the outcome of the interview process but I did feel that this negative experience tainted possible future opportunities that might actually fit my background.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Sunrun (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2014
Interview
I was contacted by an internal recruiter with whom I had worked before, he requested resume/cover for the position, which I emailed to him. I was subsequently contacted by someone else (administrative?) who coordinated timing. The process was reasonably smooth via email but would have been easier/quicker over the phone.
Upon arrival, one of the four interviewers was not able to attend personally, so we spoke on the phone. The fourth interviewer (a peer interview) was rushed for time, yet polite. In all, the process was friendly, predictable, and pleasant/professional.
When I was not chosen for the position, and followed up with all of the interviewers, no reason/explanation was offered despite my questions. No follow-up was requested by them, nor offered in response to my questions.

Question 1
I was asked specifically how I would target/enter a specific channel market about which I have admittedly small background/knowledge. It was pertinent to the job, yet came as a surprise for which I was not prepared, nor could I have been reasonably assumed to be prepared.
