I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sunrun in Oct 2022
Interview
Incredibly disrespectful - I went through a screening and several steps of the interview process, put in the time to answer questions, and schedule times only to be completely ghosted. I was scheduling my next interview only to be completely dropped without my calls returned or even and email. It's not hard- if you made a candidate put in the time to get this far, a simple email goes a long way. Bottom line, don't do any work until you have a meeting on the books, or just don't waste your time at all and find an employer that respects your time.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at Sunrun (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2012
Interview
4 interviews total, in office. Plus an initial informational interview off-site via networking channels. The interviews were all extremely interesting and engaging -- an enjoyable experience, if you can believe that. Even the CEO carved out 30 minutes for me, which showed their commitment to hiring well.
On the flip side, as an employee I then interviewed candidates. But it felt like it was more for show than that real input was desired from me. To Sunrun's credit, they use an elaborate software service to record interviews and feedback. They work hard on the process, but it still needs improvement to portray the positions and culture properly and fidn the best suited individuals.

After the fact, I wish they had asked more challenging and specific questions. About a month into the job, it became clear that the actual duties of this job bore little resemblance to what was discussed with my bosses/interviewers.
