      Copywriter Interview

      Sep 21, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Superhuman (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2021

      Interview

Interview process was dragged out over two months. I met with about 10 people total, including the general manager at the end. One interview had me meet with four people, in 30 minute calls after the other (a total of a two hour interview). Throughout the process, I was continually told that there were no concerns about my experience or expertise. I got all the way to the reference check and was told to get a reference from my current manager. I was hesitant to do this, but didn't want to risk my chance at getting a job offer so had to tell my boss that I was interviewing and potentially leaving the company. After the reference check, I got a call saying I didn't get the job because I didn't have enough experience... My experience was obviously on my resume, and they hadn't brought up any concerns with it earlier! I felt like my time had been wasted and my current job jeopardized. I'm still at that job and am constantly being treated like a traitor or purposely left out of the loop because I had to get a reference check from my manager instead of a coworker. Grammarly, please reconsider your interview process, rethink your reference requirements, and figure out what you want in your candidates before undergoing a months-long interview process with them. I would not recommending interviewing with Grammarly unless it's your dream job -- even then, do you really want to work for a company that would treat people like this?
