      Reinsurance Analyst Interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Swiss Re in Mar 2017

      Interview

I had a chance to have two interviews for two different jobs here. My first experience with the interview was really great. The hiring manager as well as the HR Specialist asked me interesting questions which made me feel like they really care about their employees. I also had a small test from Excel. They decided to give me an offer but I declined because of a low salary offered even though I had very positive feelings from the interview. Hovewer, my second experience with the interview was a total disaster. During the first round there were three people asking me pointless questions and gave me an Excel test which I failed and asked them if I could do it again in the second round. The second round was with the hiring manager and some other manager. Both of them were super unprofessional and made me feel like an inferior several times. Morover, one of them asked me to calculate percentage of some number on the paper and then threw a pen at me saying “sorry it was too far” afterwards the hiring manager started to laugh at it. I had no words for their behavior. After the second round they told me that the hiring manager didn’t like my attitude and said I give up too easily even though I asked them to repeat the Excel test which I passed in the second round. They recommended me to re-apply again after three years. Well, after this experience all I can say is that all departments are different and when having the interview you can have luck on the people you meet with, or you can also ended up meeting with very unprofessional individuals who treat candidates in a wrong way. I thought that the company hires people for “the right attitude, and train for skills”. The only thing I regret is not taking the first offer which I got because it seems like the hiring manager who threw a pen at me gave me a bad feedback and because of it, I cannot apply again to a different department. I still believe Swiss re is a great company to work for. There are just some really unprofessional managers you don’t want to work with.
