The process was fine and as expected. They emailed me to set up a zoom interview. We did the interview and they were polite and some of them were friendly. I had the feeling I was not their top candidate and the nonverbal communication during the interview ratified my impression. Some of the interviewers were clearly unhappy about being there. I emailed a few of the search committee members with a polite follow-up to thank them for their time and they never responded. After the interview, I never heard back from them again. Not even a polite note to let me know they had selected someone else. I thought the process needed closure, and they seemed unprofessional. Sadly for the higher institution industry, this behavior is more the norm than the exception. Unprofessional.
