      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at TAIT (Lititz, PA) in Jan 2016

      Interview

First, I was scheduled for an interview with their Senior Human Resource Manager, then about a week later, I interviewed with Avery White. Both were fairly standard 1st and 2nd round interviews, focusing on your skills in general and then going into detailed discussion of your past projects. Do note that, as a result of Tait's busy and often hectic scheduling, they may need to reschedule parts of the interview. This is something to keep in mind if you are going through multiple interview processes simultaneously, and became an issue during my process. As mentioned in other reviews, Tait recently implemented a speed interviewing process for their final round of interviewing. This round consists of 7-8 interviewers with whom you speak for about 15 minutes each throughout the morning. If you (out of the several other people who will also be interviewing with the speed group) make it to the afternoon round, they give you lunch and you speak further with two members of the hierarchy who need to speak with you in person to determine whether you'll be brought onto the team. You receive an answer one way or another by the end of the day. Unfortunately, the day before the onsite speed interview was to take place, Tait cancelled the session due to inclement weather. I wasn't in a position where I could safely reschedule the interview for later, so I did not participate in the speed interview myself. It was nice that I received help in trying to see if there was any other way I could speak with their team in person within my time constraints, but I admit that I am quite disappointed with the lack of forewarning that weather would cause problems for the session. The interviews themselves are straightforward, but at times, it seems like the organization of the process just isn't very stable, so the tides of the process can very quickly turn depending on your current circumstances.

      Application

      Interview

After passing a screening interview via phone with HR, I interviewed in-person. Tait has adopted a speed-interviewing format, where they bring in ~8 people to first interview in 15-minute sessions after a facility tour lasting a half-hour (2.5 hours in total so far). They then cut the candidate pool and interview the remaining field after lunch (4+ hours scheduled in all). Only one position was being offered. Everything is out in the open, so you get to meet and can potentially overhear the interviews of the competition. It can be very awkward and uncomfortable for some. The speed-interviews were held in the company cafeteria. Strangely, no one else from the company seemed to be using it for eating. Unfortunately, the position was not a match more me. I also found a few items of concern: the job description did not seem to accurately match the role interviewed for (looking for an engineer to do non-engineering work), there appeared to be much concern over long hours, and there was not an opportunity to meet with anyone who had a very similar position (met with project managers from construction and theater backgrounds, only one engineer). Last points of confusion were that they said my interview session was the first time they were trying the speed-interviewing format, yet I had already read of one that they held here on Glassdoor... The other mention was that a recruiter called me about the position 2 weeks after the interview. I can only assume they didn't offer anyone the position - it was re-posted on LinkedIn 3 days after my interview. Although the tour was entertaining and I didn't feel bad about not getting the role, I don't appreciate that they wasted a day of 8 people's time. They even took 2 hours to decide how to reduce the candidate pool.

Thank you so much for the feedback on the process! I did want to let folks know we did hire three (3) folks from the speed interviewing pool - all of whom are Engineers. So the process was a bit clunky as it was this group first time with the Speed Interviewing design, but we were very happy with the results and the new employees we are on-boarding! We plan to use this design again in the near future and as before we will provide lunch and hopefully a great experience!
