I was called several months before and declined the offer because I was still in the process of seeing how my current employment position/salary would change after a good year. It didn't and a month later a new recruiter had reached out again from TEK Systems. I said I was interested. He offered me a good rate. I asked for it in writing. He agreed. We both signed paper work recognizing the offer. I gave my two weeks notice at my former employer (which I knew once I did they would cut me because they didn't have billable work for me at the time). I waited at home for 10 days for my new position to start on the 1st of April. I was called the Thursday (Mar 28) before that monday (Apr 1) at 3 pm with information that the company had a restructure meeting at corporate and decided to freeze hiring. This left me without employment, without income and scrambling in many different directions trying to find something to make ends meet until I find my next full time position. Also has cost me thousands of dollars after drawing out my 401 k and asking family for help. My friends, family, and I are at awe that something like this is allowed. I am 27 and have student debt from a master's degree, a truck payment and rent... this was supposed to allow me to put more money away and lessen my commute. Instead it has been the most stressful time I've ever had in my life. The rep I worked with said he was sorry and when I asked for financial assistance after explaining my situation, for which he already knew, he said they could not help.
