I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at TELUS (Burnaby, BC) in Mar 2015
Interview
I was applying internally on a lateral move for a role that I had no experience in. I've seen complaints about lateral moves but the more variety of experience you have, the better to move up later. All part of the five year plan! The great thing about TELUS is that I started as a call centre agent. I have no education past high school but I have always made an effort to excel in every role I have had. I also never forget anyone and build my network through our internal diversity resource groups. I always do favours for my colleagues and built a reputation of reliability and flexibility. As a result, I was actually encouraged to apply on this job by reputation alone (I didn't know a soul in this department!). The best thing is that for the last 3 roles I applied for, a prerequisite was to have an MBA....or equivalent work experience. I am the definition of 'equivalent work experience'. I have been successful in 2 of those 3 applications.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Standard behavioural questions which once you've done a few, are easy to study for. For the most part it was more beneficial for me to ask about the role and show an interest. The most challenging part of the interview was presentation of a 30 minute business case about an unrelated company.
Phone interview, then one on one interview with hiring manager, then panel interview with a business case to present within 24 hours after receiving it. Included reviewing data, analysing it and making a presentation
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at TELUS (Lévis, QC) in May 2022
Interview
Good 1st interview with the HR lady basic questions about the background and the experience then 2nd panel interview a week later. No real technical questions but just situational to see how I would react in certain conditions. Received the forms for my referrals the following week then the offer less than a week later
