      Accounting Interview

      Sep 20, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at TORC Robotics (New York, NY)

      Interview

Contacted for phone interview, process was informal and seemed disorganized and rushed. Job ad and interview provided vague details on what the position was expected to do. Interview questions were typical of the first 5 found off a Google search. Salary was required on the application I submitted, however I was asked again in the phone interview at the end and then.... Soon after my interview I received a rejection email, the job ad was deleted and reposted a few days later. I didn't realize there was really no prior accounting department. Multiple positions are being newly formed due to their recent acquisition, and the future of the position I interviewed for seemed to be left to guess about. Interviewer wasn't really engaging much, maybe because they hadn't been there that long themselves. Overall, I didn't feel I was given any real opportunity to give the best version of myself to assess my fit for the position. One thing I think employers tend to forget is that interviewing is a two way street, both parties are trying to determine fit which is not a bad thing, it saves time and money in the long run. Many people are not good speakers of themselves over a phone -but can have brilliant minds with a great work ethic.
