I applied via Indeed.com to a translator job. Yesterday I got a call from a 306 (US no.) I missed it. I called back and just a 'beep; asking to leave message, no recording/identification of who and where I was calling to leave a message, suspicious! Then this 306 no. called back claimed his name is 'June'. He replied his works for Kelly Services when I asked where he called from. Then he interviewed me over phone for about 15 mins. He sent me email from Teleperformance with a link to do an language assessment. I read through the email and felt it was legit, I clicked the link to start the test. Then the next page was agreement/disclaimer of some sort, I agreed. It loaded up to a '5 minute' automatic diagnostic to test compatibility of my computer e.g. mic speaker and stuff and there was a timer. During these 5 minutes there were 2 loading 'circles' showing computer on another end is doing the job - diagnostic.... I hope. In 5 minutes, I can see my computer IP address and configuration appeared on my computer screen. Please, these days, every one is afraid of scams and hacks. I am hunting for jobs and I do online test often, when I click into the link I go straight to test page. But if I see my computer IP on my screen of course allow me to be panic. First, he has not identified himself to be Teleperformance, but he said he's from Kelly Services. I still finished the test as I cannot go back or I was too dump not switching my computer off, I believed that was overacting. 'June' explained how it worked. If I get hired I can choose to be p/t or f/u. I get paid every week. I can choose my own shift and just log on when I'm ready. I asked him as he mentioned clients need translation/clinic during their visit. So I asked him what's the point I chose a shift from 6pm to 10pm, it's not normal business hours. 'June' said the system works around N. America and there must be some calls from different time zone. And even there's no calls coming in during my shift, I still get paid. Hmm, interesting. However, this is just of good thoughts for job seekers who wants to take a role with this Teleperformance, at least you know the process and procedure.
