I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at TPG in Jan 2017
Interview
Unecessarily long and cumbersome. It started with a 2 hour phone interview, then they invite you for an in person to meet with the hiring manager which took another 2.5 hours. They give you a case study that gets completed in 4 hours followed by another round of interview that lasts 5 hours. As far as I'm concerned, they have a terrible culture which shows in their terrible hiring process. There is no way you can gauge if an employee would be great or not till they begin doing the job.
it was average and the ask me about a bunch of questions about my experience and why i choose to apply to tpg. what really interests me and how i see myself in the future with the company

Question 1
What are the key inputs that drive the return on an LBO?
Very very strange. I was probably the most qualified person for the role... And had a recruiter call as a first step. She asked if I had any questions and I said yes (as you are supposed to do) and asked specific questions about the team. I asked:
1. How does this specific team fit into the wider teams?
2. How many people are in this team (not easily findable from LinkedIn)
3. If there are multiple associates in the same team, what distinguishes their job roles? For example, is one person more data focused etc?
The recruiter couldnt answer these questions, got flustered and a little snarky with me... and of course I did not make it to the next round. Quite bad to be honest as I believe the team missed out on a good candidate, who they didn't even get to meet. Simply because I had good questions!
