First round with recruiter > second interview with a few members of the design team > final interview of different 30 min sessions with members of product team I had a pretty negative experience interviewing here overall. Things started off well enough - the members of the UX and product teams were friendly and engaging - but things went pretty substantially downhill from there. I moved through the first three interviews fairly quickly, probably within 2 weeks or so. During my final interview, the recruiter let me know that she would have a decision for me the next day (Friday). She called me on Friday and said “I have good and bad news.” The good news was that she said the team really liked me, it seemed like a good fit, and they would want to move forward with an offer. The ‘bad news’ was that they had one more candidate scheduled for a final interview that they wanted to go through with for due diligence and get the full picture on them. I said this wasn’t a problem, and asked when they likely would be able to get back to me. The recruiter said she’d get back to me late the following week. I didn’t hear anything l, so I emailed out at the end of the following week and asked if they had an update. The recruiter got back to me “Sincerest apologies, but we do not. I don’t think we will have an update for a week or two. We’re still working through applications/interviews.” This was confusing and a much different tone from the things she had told me the week before. I realized at this point I was most likely just being strung along until they found someone they liked better, so I didn’t respond. The recruiter reached back out to me 2 weeks later, essentially saying “We didn’t forget about you! Are you still interested?” I replied that I was still interested. I didn’t hear anything back for a week after that so I reached out again asking for an update. The recruiter responded 5 days later saying they went with another candidate. I asked for feedback on what changed since my interview, and didn’t hear anything back. All in all it was over a month from when I had my final interview to when I got the decision (when I was told it would be a one day turnaround). I really do feel they strung me along, got my hopes up, and showed no respect for my time. Definitely raises some red flags for me about the company.
