Round 1 : initial call with HR to go over my resume and why interested in the company Round 2 : medium level leet code question involving strings and arrays

I was only given a phone screen for a role I clearly met or exceeded all personal, professional, and technical qualifications for. I've been on the interviewer and interviewee end of many interviews and objectively the initial call went well. I also happen to be a several year customer and use the software the role I applied for would be developing. After the phone screen it took a week to hear back from talent acquisition about where things stood. When I did hear back they simply noted they went with a candidate who was a "closer fit". I was not given the chance to have my technical skills assessed despite meeting the qualifications for the role and having a good first round interview. As a result, I found the feedback/reasoning to be inadequate. Typically a candidate doesn't make it past the initial screen if there are big red flags or something went horribly wrong (which didn't occur). It's generally the technical evaluation phase that demonstrates if a qualified candidate doesn't stack up against other applicants. I replied to express my gratitude for the time taken, well wishes to the hiring team, and politely asked for more detail - hopefully I'll receive more information.
