Target Business Analyst interview questions

I was contacted for an initial phone interview. This was an informal discussion. I was asked after this interview whether or not I would like to proceed with the process, and I agreed. The interviewer and I set up an additional interview the following morning. Before that, I was asked to complete an IQ test and personality assessment. This was difficult and there is no useful way to prepare other than take advantage of the practice tests they offer. I completed the test/assessment and finished my interview the following morning. This interview was approximately 30 minutes, and was not too challenging. Basic behavioral questions: situation-action-result. I was asked after this interview if I would like to fly to HQ for the final interviews, and again, I agreed. The interview day consisted of presentations, tours, a lunch, and two 1:1 interviews. The questions can be difficult to understand at times. The key for Target is to structure your response in the following format: situation-action-result. Be sure to include what you learned from that experience, because remember we tend to learn things from experiences. For this particular position, you must provide examples emphasizing teamwork, leadership, and feedback. That is key! For preparation, thing of 5-8 experiences from your past that highlight these behaviors. You must also ask coherent, intelligent questions after the interview. Challenge the interviewer! Remember there are three parts to the interview: introduction, responses, and conclusion. You must be engaging and exciting throughout the entire process. DO NOT bore the interviewer! Be passionate about your career, the position, but most importantly, the company. Spend at least 2-3 hours reading the annual reports, industry journals, etc. This will significantly help you and your confidence. Bottom line: be confident, have fun, and be prepared. I interviewed on a Friday and received a telephone call the following Wednesday with an offer. Follow through with thank you notes, and COMPLETE the drug test within 24 hours. Overall, Target is a first-class company that invests serious time and money into employee development. They are passionate about career advancement, they want you to move up! Initial phone interview (roughly half an hour), with typical "describe yourself" or "how would you handle this/did you handle a situation like this" questions. Follow-up involves an online skills and personality test, and as soon as you complete that an hour phone interview with more of the latter behavioral questions. The recruiter generally gives you a gist of what kind of questions are coming, but it's pretty much the STAR process (Google it for tips).
