I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Target (Redlands, CA) in May 2015
Interview
After they told me I was hired, it took over a full month to hear back in regards to getting me started. I applied for the job before my summer break had started, but didn't start until the middle of July. There were definitely some workers there who were overworked and underpaid, and this shone through in their hiring and interview process. They called me for a brief phone interview and I had an in person interview a few days later. I was there for the in-person interview for over five hours, which was not something that I had planned for or expected. I was hired by the end of the day, and because I was desperate for a job, accepted. Flash to over a month later - I finally get called back after attempting to call the store multiple times to find out more information about when I would be starting. Honestly you're better off supporting local businesses, anyway. They'll probably pay you better.
It was two interviews. The first one was a recorded interview for 15 minutes and the second interview was in person. The questions were very similar. It is common questions that they would ask for being in retail.
Was just a quick 10 minute call from the store manager, didn't take long at all. He asked if I had the availability he was looking for and if I could be punctual. Smooth process
It was overall very brief from applying to hearing back. Was just a day of meeting with a couple managers and talking through a cashier job. Nothing too out of the ordinary for a role like this.
