I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Target (New Britain, CT) in Sep 2016
Interview
After the long online application process which includes multiple assessments, I received confirmation emails, and a week later was informed that I "did not fit the criteria for the position". Prior to that I called to follow up on the status of my application, but it seemed as if the hiring manager had no clue about me or my application.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Most of the assessment questions were about how you would respond to specific situations. For example, a customer tries to use an expired coupon. The others were more about choosing the best of two statements that best describes you, for example: I prefer to work independently or I work best as part of a team (Choose which best applies to you).
It was two interviews. The first one was a recorded interview for 15 minutes and the second interview was in person. The questions were very similar. It is common questions that they would ask for being in retail.
Was just a quick 10 minute call from the store manager, didn't take long at all. He asked if I had the availability he was looking for and if I could be punctual. Smooth process
It was overall very brief from applying to hearing back. Was just a day of meeting with a couple managers and talking through a cashier job. Nothing too out of the ordinary for a role like this.
