      Sales Floor Team Member Interview

      Jul 16, 2012
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Tucson, AZ
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Target (Tucson, AZ) in Jul 2012

      Interview

I was called about an interview 2 days after applying. As soon as I got to Target on the day of the interview, I was told to answer a 5-10 minute questionnaire and then to wait by the computer until someone came to meet with me. It took roughly 20 minutes before a manager in-training appeared. She had me follow her to a back room/break area for the first step of the interview. She went over my application, and asked me a few basic scenario questions, they were all rather easy and I felt extremely comfortable and confident by the end of it all. She told me to wait in the room for a second while she went to get the other lady that was supposed to give me the second portion of my interview. About 5 minutes passed and a man showed up saying "okay, we'll be moving this interview to the front of the store because I have something else going on, and it'll be easiest for me." I was fine with that, until he opened the door of a tiny office, had me sit in the chair, while he stood in the doorway, looking out at the rest of the store, making absolutely no eye-contact with me whatsoever. During all of the questions (which happened to be the same questions the manager in-training asked) he either interrupted my answers by talking on his little headset, or he just stared off into space and when I got quiet he asked "and what was the outcome of that?" I knew he wasn't listening because 3 out of 5 of my answers included an outcome. He told me he had a few more interviews to conduct and he'd give me a call back soon. 3 days later, I got an email stating that I didn't get the job. I can't say that I'm exactly bummed about not getting the job after going through that. Waste of time for all involved.

It was very quick and I was hired on immediately. I was a college student going to TAMU Galveston at the time. The team was pretty easy going but just not there to help me grow as an individual.
