I applied online for a new Target opening in October. Within a couple days I received a phone call inviting me to come interview in person. Turns out Target was holding a huge job fair in which they were looking to hire 200 people, and interviewing about 1500. So there was lots of competition. I came dressed in business casual attire which I am assuming made a good impression because most of the people I saw dressed formally were hired. It just goes to show that you take the opportunity seriously. I filled out a short assessment test on paper of about 20 questions. Because I had a scheduled interview I only had to wait in a short line before my name was called. I was interviewed by 2 people at the same time, a team leader and an executive team leader. They asked me some background questions and then 8 situational questions. (ie. tell me a time when....) I made sure to sit up straight, make eye contact, and smile a lot to show them I was really interested and eager. I also joked around with them and asked questions when I didn't understand something. They told me the main thing they look for are people who are fast, fun, and friendly. Afterwards I had to sit around and wait again. Then I was told I made it to the next round, which required more waiting. Finally I was interviewed yet again but this time by the executive manager. It was a really short and easy interview though and he told me he would be thrilled to have me on the Target team. I did a drug test on the spot, and they also put in a background check. They offered me the job and I of course accepted. Overall it was a very fun experience. The Target employees were extremely nice and although it took a few hours it was definitely worth it. My advice is to go through all of these reviews and study study study the questions so that you have answers ready to go when asked. It's always better to be prepared.
