      Sales Floor Team Member Interview

      Oct 19, 2012
      Anonymous employee
      San Diego, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Target (San Diego, CA) in Oct 2012

      Interview

I applied on a Saturday at 12:00 in the afternoon and received a call at 3:00! I totally did not expect that. They were really on top of it. The lady asked me to come in for an interview on Monday at 9:00, but I had class so I couldn't have so I rescheduled to Friday at 11:00am. It didn't delay me in getting the job or anything. The overall interview was great. I first had to fill out a situational assessment just to see which situations you would choose best and worst. Then a team leader took me into a room and asked me some basic questions, also tell me about a time question. First three question was Why do you want to work at target? What are strength and weakness? And I forgot the 3rd. And then the "tell me a time" questions were Tell me a time when you had to work with a team to get something done. Tell me a time when you did a service that exceeded your supervisor/teachers expectation. Tell me a time when you had many task to do in a short amount of time and how you handled it. After all that, she told me to wait for executive leader? She took me into her office and asked me same basic questions, and some situational questions. The situational questions were Pretend you were helping a mom find her 3 year son a pair of shoes, and on the way to finding it realized his size was not on shelf. I honestly, kind of don't remember what the question was. I think that's what she asked me. I just said I would ask her to leave her number and we will call her to let her know when the correct size will come in. But I think that was the wrong question. Another question was, pretend you were at the cashier checking out a customer's items. The price you rang up was 19.99, but the customer was sure that it was 17.99, what would you do? I think I got this answer right. I said since I was not able to change the price and if the price showed up at 19.99, I can't do anything about it except ask her to go to the customer service area to get the correct price on the item. Another question was Name a time when you realized you made a mistake in a task. Basically that was it. I got hired right on the spot! I think I made a mistake by not asking a lot of question such as pay, hours, and what my job will be able. Make sure you come with questions to ask. And then she gave me a paper to go get a drug test which I had to do within 24 hours. Technically I had to do it the day of since the clinic is closed on Saturdays, and my interview was Friday. But overall a good experience. The first interviewer was really nice and friend and made me feel comfortable, but the second one seemed a bit more intimidating. She was still nice though! I suggest reading as much as you can on these glassdoor interview review. They really helped me. These were the exact questions that I received except for the mom one. That caught me by surprise. Overall, just be yourself, and be friendly! I also think they like it when you think fast on your feet.

It was very quick and I was hired on immediately. I was a college student going to TAMU Galveston at the time. The team was pretty easy going but just not there to help me grow as an individual.
