It was two interviews. The first one was a recorded interview for 15 minutes and the second interview was in person. The questions were very similar. It is common questions that they would ask for being in retail.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Target (Madison, WI) in Jan 2011
Interview
I interviewed when the store was first opening so I'm not sure if this interview experience was different than most. I sat down in front of 3 or 4 managers and they all asked me questions along the lines of "tell me about a time when you..."dealt with stress well" "lead a team" "communicated under pressure" " etc etc they told me pretty much on the spot that I was hired and told me to go across the street immediately for a drug test. There is also a screening before the interview which is a very long personality test.

Question 1
Tell me about a time when you handled yourself well under stress.
Was just a quick 10 minute call from the store manager, didn't take long at all. He asked if I had the availability he was looking for and if I could be punctual. Smooth process
It was overall very brief from applying to hearing back. Was just a day of meeting with a couple managers and talking through a cashier job. Nothing too out of the ordinary for a role like this.
