I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Target (San Antonio, TX) in Jan 2011
Interview
They asked about my history in retail as well as my education. The interviewer was particularly interested in my ability to multiply large numbers quickly. The interviewer was very nice in general, but still asked some hard questions. They are clearly looking for someone to think on their feet. Also, be sure to stay properly hydrated but not too much. It doesn't look good if you have to pee mid-interview. This should be avoided at all costs.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Are you willing and able to put the customers before you in all cases?
It was two interviews. The first one was a recorded interview for 15 minutes and the second interview was in person. The questions were very similar. It is common questions that they would ask for being in retail.
Was just a quick 10 minute call from the store manager, didn't take long at all. He asked if I had the availability he was looking for and if I could be punctual. Smooth process
It was overall very brief from applying to hearing back. Was just a day of meeting with a couple managers and talking through a cashier job. Nothing too out of the ordinary for a role like this.
