I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Target (Glenville, NY) in Oct 2015
Interview
It was a very simple interview process. I checked in at guest services and was immediately brought to the back offices. It took awhile for the interviewer to come in, but they said that they had just started an orientation so it would be a little while before they came to interview me. After the short wait my first interviewer came in, discussed a little bit about my background and why I wanted to work at Target. Then he asked me four simple situational questions... "what did you do when" "explain a time when" etc. He was very responsive and kept telling me "awesome" so I figured it was going well. Then he told me someone would be coming in for my second interview. I waited a few minutes, and he knocked on the door to let me know that the store manager would be completing my second interview and that he would be with me shortly. After waiting a bit more the store manager came in to complete my second interview. We discussed my availability and then he went into the interview which also consisted of 4 situational questions. He then told me he thought I would be a good fit for a GSA and said he'd be right back with my job offer. They told me I would be starting at $9.50 and hour and that it was a conditional offer and that I would be contacted after a background check was completed.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Look at the other glassdoor reviews... all the questions that I was asked are listed in the reviews. "Tell me about a time when you disagreed with an employee." "What are your strengths/weaknesses?" "How did you handle being interrupted while trying to finish a task?" etc.
It was two interviews. The first one was a recorded interview for 15 minutes and the second interview was in person. The questions were very similar. It is common questions that they would ask for being in retail.
Was just a quick 10 minute call from the store manager, didn't take long at all. He asked if I had the availability he was looking for and if I could be punctual. Smooth process
It was overall very brief from applying to hearing back. Was just a day of meeting with a couple managers and talking through a cashier job. Nothing too out of the ordinary for a role like this.
