Extensive Interview Process Lacking Transparency
This was advertised as remote or hybrid. Over two months, I underwent a grueling seven-stage interview process:
1. A phone screen with the technical recruiter.
2. A 45-minute interview with the hiring manager.
3. A 45-minute technical assessment with the hiring manager and three team members.
4. Four 30-minute technical interviews with team members over two days.
The technical questions seemed generic, as if sourced directly from a quick online search.
Despite the intensive process, communication and transparency from the company were subpar.
After the final interviews, I received an ambiguous email from the recruiter asking for my availability the next day.
I was told I was among the top three candidates but needed to wait for leadership's decision. The recruiter also mentioned another shift opportunity requiring a 4 AM start and another interview.
I was promised an update by a specific date, which passed without any communication. After following up, I was informed of internal delays due to a new VP overseeing changes. Shortly after, I was asked if I was willing to relocate to Minnesota, despite the role being advertised as remote or hybrid. I made it clear relocation was not an option, only to be informed later that the role had transitioned to a hybrid model, and my candidacy was no longer being considered.
This experience was incredibly frustrating. It took two months and seven interviews for the company to change a key requirement that disqualified me from the role. The lack of clarity and shifting expectations wasted my time and effort. I expected more professionalism and transparency for a senior-level position.
I would caution others about the inefficiencies and miscommunications in this company's hiring process.
