I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Target (Richfield, MN) in Feb 2016
Interview
Sat and waited for HR which wasn't there. I was then interviewed by the store manager and the produce manager. The produce manager interview was quick, the store manager a little longer. I sat and spoke to them and filled out a form about at will employment.
Called in two days later about the status of my application and they said that I wasn't hired. They misunderstood that I was looking for an internship and thought that I was already working fulltime for a place I wanted to intern at, but I called an actual HR person and spoke to them about looking for one and not actually working somewhere else, and then they had me come in and told me about the orientation.
Then, later on I came in for the orientation and it was really boring. I sat in a room and watched a cartoon training video, filled out some forms, looked around on the floor for a sort of target scavenger hunt where you learn about the sales floor and some of the other things that they can offer like rainchecks and where diapers are.
Then, after this, I went home and started a day after that.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Was asked questions like how I deal with an unhappy customer. If I can work nights and weekends. What I am going to school for and if I am in part or full time classes. Just try and let them know you are really available and will do whatever they need you to do.
Quick and easy. Basic questions about working with a team, taking direction and being punctual. No previous skills required. They just want to make sure you can handle basic tasks and keep guests happy. Basic customer service skills needed
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would you respond to a guest asking you for help?
Regular interview withe a few hypothetical questions. Just be confident and tell them what they want to hear. It's just the grocery business so they will not be too picky on candidates.
It was very smooth. The interview person was really nice and outgoing. The questions were not too hard to answer, although they took some time to think about how to answer them.
