Interview Review : Unprofessional communication and retracted offer after an exhausting process
Overall Rating: 1 out of 5 stars
Interview Outcome: Declined Offer (Offer Retracted)
Interview Difficulty: Difficult
The Review:
Application & Interview Process:
The application process was incredibly strenuous and intensive. I was required to provide 10 years of detailed work history—including onboarding verification via W-2s, official school transcripts, CYFD clearances, and high-impact personal information—all with zero instruction, guidance, or HR support.
Despite the demanding upfront requirements, the company was initially aware that I was managing an out-of-state relocation and explicitly told me to take my time with the transition. Trusting their word and their offer, I turned down multiple other job opportunities to commit to working with them.
The Outcome:
Communication from HR became highly sketchy. The hiring organization ultimately pulled the job offer under the false pretense that they "hadn't heard from me," despite the fact that the HR manager was actually the one who failed to return my phone calls. It was an incredibly disappointing and unprofessional experience.
Advice to Management:
Provide actual support and clear instructions to candidates when requesting extensive, sensitive personal data during onboarding. Most importantly, ensure your HR and onboarding team maintains honest, timely, and reliable communication. Pulling an offer from a relocating candidate who turned down other employment due to your own team's failure to return phone calls is completely unacceptable.
