Instruct them to start working on the problem, explaining their thought process as they go. Encourage the candidate to ask questions or seek clarification if needed. Pay attention to their SQL query writing skills, problem-solving approach, and ability to optimize queries. Question & Discussion (10-15 minutes): After the candidate presents their solution, ask questions to assess their understanding of SQL Server and the specific problem they worked on. Dive deeper into their choices regarding indexes, database design, and query performance. Behavioral and Soft Skills (10 minutes): Ask a few questions to assess the candidate's communication skills, teamwork, and how they handle challenges. Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

When conducting an interview to assess a candidate's knowledge of basic Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts, C#, and SQL Server, you can ask questions that cover fundamental principles and concepts in these areas. Here are some sample questions for each: Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) Concepts: What is Object-Oriented Programming, and what are its core principles? Encapsulation, Inheritance, and Polymorphism. Explain the concept of Inheritance in OOP. Inheritance allows a class to inherit properties and behaviors from another class, promoting code reusability. What is Encapsulation, and why is it important in OOP? Encapsulation is the bundling of data and methods that operate on that data into a single unit (class). It helps in data hiding and controlling access to data. Define Polymorphism and provide an example in C#. Polymorphism allows objects of different types to be treated as if they are objects of the same type. An example might involve method overloading or method overriding in C#. What is Abstraction, and how is it related to OOP? Abstraction involves simplifying complex reality by modeling classes based on the essential characteristics. It hides the complexity and allows for easy interaction with objects. C# Basics: What is C#, and why is it used? C# is a programming language developed by Microsoft for building Windows applications, web applications, and more. It's widely used in the .NET framework. What is the difference between value types and reference types in C#? Value types store the actual value in memory, while reference types store a reference to the memory location where the value is stored. Explain the difference between the var keyword and explicitly specifying data types in C#. var is used for implicit typing, where the data type is determined by the compiler. Explicit data types are specified by the developer. How do you handle exceptions in C#? Exception handling in C# involves using try, catch, and finally blocks to handle runtime errors gracefully. What is the difference between IEnumerable and IQueryable in C# for working with collections? IEnumerable is used for in-memory collections, while IQueryable is used for querying databases, enabling deferred execution. SQL Server Basics: What is SQL Server, and what are its primary components? SQL Server is a relational database management system (RDBMS) developed by Microsoft. Key components include the Database Engine, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS. Explain the difference between SQL Server authentication and Windows authentication. SQL Server authentication relies on username and password, while Windows authentication uses the user's Windows account. What is a primary key and a foreign key in the context of a database? A primary key uniquely identifies records in a table, while a foreign key establishes a link between two tables based on a common column. How do you write a basic SQL SELECT statement? Demonstrate a simple SQL SELECT statement to retrieve data from a table. What is normalization in the context of database design, and why is it important? Normalization is the process of organizing data in a database to reduce redundancy and improve data integrity. It ensures that data is stored efficiently.
