A few things:
- the recruitment coordinator and recruiter were both very pleasant people to work with.
- I got through 3/4 rounds of interviews. All of it took nearly 2 months from the time I applied til the time they told me they would not be moving forward with my application. Almost every response from recruitment was delivered exactly a week later. It seemed as if it was an expected internal cadence; part of their process, so to speak.
- the hiring manager interview was a bit awkward. Maybe on my part. Maybe on theirs. I was told it would only be the recruiter and 3 of the CS managers on the call, but I noticed the CS director was also listed on the meeting attendee list. He joined about a third of the way through the interview and the energy in the “room” changed. It felt as though this was meant to catch me off guard. It also seemed as if intimidation was part of his process for interviewing.
- An unnecessarily long and drawn out interview process, coupled with a perceived attempt to intimidate candidates did not bode well for me when deciding if this was the right organization to further my career. Perhaps the feeling was obvious because a week later I was told they would not be advancing my application through the hiring pipeline.
In this job economy, the long game and intimidation do not work. TechnologyAdvice is participating in a broken hiring system.
