      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at TechnologyAdvice in Dec 2022

      Interview

[Per Glassdoor policy, I omitted pronouns and titles to remove any identifying information.] TLDR: I felt disrespected from the very start. I spent several days waiting for responses (it took the person who reached out to me 9 days from initiating contact to actually meet), and when we did finally meet, the person was EATING during our conversation. I definitely didn't feel like I had the person's full focus or support from the very beginning. Details: An employee headhunted and reached out to me via another job board. I responded immediately and then didn't hear back until end of business the following day. I replied immediately, and then I didn't hear back for three more business days. Again, I responded immediately (and filled out my availability via a link the person sent me). Two business days later, the person scheduled my phone screening for the following day (as if my availability wouldn't have changed over those two days). So, those were red flags. I did some homework and checked the pay ranges on Glassdoor before my phone screening, and the writing roles did not match my salary expectations, but the pay band was never revealed, so I guess I will never know for sure. The screening went well enough (I think?). I was convinced that I asked for too much money, so I wasn't too broken up about getting a canned rejection email eight days later. Recommendations: be more efficient (if someone from your company reaches out to me, I expect an initial conversation much sooner than 9 days later); disclose your pay ranges; don't EAT during interviews with candidates; give helpful feedback with the rejection letters. All of these recommendations are common courtesies.
