I am writing to express my disappointment with the recent hiring process at Tescra, particularly in light of my interactions with the hiring manager’s colleague.
Upon being selected based on my resume, I encountered several issues that have prompted me to bring my concerns to your attention. Initially, I was under the impression that Tescra was seeking an individual with a core marketing background, not exclusively focused on digital marketing. Regrettably, the provided job description was incomplete and did not align with the actual requirements.
Following this, I was tasked with preparing an extensive 90-minute presentation for the CEO, covering various aspects of Tescra's marketing strategy. Notably, despite Tescra's establishment in 2002, its digital footprint appears surprisingly limited, a concern highlighted during a site audit.
Despite the challenges in the preparation process, I dedicated time and effort to craft a detailed 57-slide presentation, sacrificing time with my family during Diwali to meet the Tuesday submission deadline. However, to my dismay, The hiring manager’s colleague has refused to proceed further, citing a delayed submission. Surprisingly, this was not communicated before the submission, and the HR explicitly mentioned a Wednesday deadline, which I adhered to.
This refusal to entertain the presentation, came from the hiring manager’s colleague from the marketing department with over 20 years of experience, raises concerns about the company's marketing approach and digital presence. It is disheartening to invest significant time, effort, and strategic thought, only to have the presentation not considered without prior indication of any issues.
The decision to put the position on hold without conducting an interview, especially for a role that supposedly required immediate joining, adds to the confusion. It appears that the hiring manager’s colleague may have been just collecting strategies without due consideration or respect for the efforts invested, which is a concerning practice. The hiring manager’s colleague seems to be seeking expertise in a domain that didn't exist during his tenure, and there is evidence of a lack of proficiency in digital marketing strategies, given his current approach.
I urge for more transparency and consideration in the hiring process to avoid wasting candidates' time and efforts. Professional courtesy and clear communication would greatly enhance the overall candidate experience.
