When I spoke to the recruiter he said it was full-time and the process was really quick so I knew it was too good to be true when the hiring manager told me it was actually a contract role when she sent out the offer, why hide that important information?

I received weeks after I've applied an email saying that I wasn't selected. I presume they receive a lot of applicants. I understand that there is no contact with the recruiter for the long list.
