Texas A&M University Graduate Assistant - Research interview questions

Met informally and talked about research interest. I also got my statement of purpose checked before actually applying online. the interview was during a short course in which my current employer was giving training. i had incorporated his message during the workshop in my SOP.

I knew the person I was applying to work with, so the interview was smooth and casual. This may not be the case for everyone. I actually approached the person I wanted to work with because I knew he might have an opening coming up in his research group. I did have to answer a few questions and go through a background check, and submit required paperwork and test scores. This worked out well for me, and I know from conversations with my peers and other students that the 'personal approach' strategy worked for them as well.
