I applied online and was contacted for a phone interview. I’m very disappointed (and could tell from my interview with the two men that conducted it) that they were only interviewing me for legality reasons. They did not ask me one question that would have given them preview to my ability to effectively do the job at hand. I later found that they promoted someone internally who had no HR experience yet that’s all they spoke about in the interview; the need to have experience to build the program and policies up. It’s not lost on me that, especially in the athletics department, it operates as the ‘good ol’ boys’ club. A word of advice: in the future, don’t waste people’s time. It’s unprincipled and disreputable.
